Stone Tech is here to help give you tips on how to properly maintain your marble and countertops!
Marble is very sensitive to acidic substance so spills with soda, coffee, juices need to be clearned up immediately. If your spill is lying out there for a long period of time, your marble will be permenantly damaged and stained.
When you clean your marble countertops, use a sponge or soft cloth with warm water and a stone cleaner. Several of the name brand cleaners should NOT be used while cleaning your marble because they contain abrasive substances which damages marble. You can also use mild soap and water to clean water however constant use will make your marble dull and fade.
Use a clean, dry, non-treated dust-mop. Be careful using a vacuum cleaner. Worn parts or grit jammed by the wheels may scratch the surface. Also, mop regularly using a specialized stone cleaner. Keeping your marble floor tiles free of dust is a good start to properly maintaining your marble floors.
Bottles, cans and glasses may contain acidic drinks which can etch the polish and damage your marble countertops. Cleaning marble countertops will be easier if you are able to keep all liquids off and coasters are a great way to do just that.
